Hal Krekorian

Memorial Golf Tournament

Hal Krekorian, JCI Senator #9695, past away on August 20, 1993 after a long battle with leukemia. Over the years Hal was active in the Warren Jaycees, the Warren Elks, the Michigan Jaycees, the Michigan Elks and the Michigan and United States JCI Senate.

Hal served as President of the Michigan JCI Senate (1985-86) and the USJCI Senate (91-92).

After his passing, the Michigan JCI Senate established the Hal Krekorian Memorial Golf Tournament in his memory. The tournament is held each year, in June, in conjunction with the USJCI Senate Annual Meeting, with the purpose of raising funds for the USJCI Senate Foundation. In the nine years since its inception the golf outing has raised approximately $60,000 for the Foundation.

The mission of the Foundation is to award college scholarships to deserving high school seniors throughout the country. The majority of the income generated by the tournament is through sponsorships. Individuals and businesses are welcome to participate in the sponsorship program and all donations are tax deductible since the USJCI Senate Foundation is a 501(c)(3) entity.

Fifteen scholarships were awarded in 2003.
